Joe's Valley Ice Climbing

The Friday Crew

Joe's Valley, Utah
Paul and I trying to figure out how to use his GPS.
They said the climb was hidden behind trees and hard to find...
It was 20 feet off the trail. How can you miss this!

The Donercicle - WI5, 100ft

I saw the most amazing cave behind the frozen falls and tried to get better look in my boots. It was more like an ice skating rink.

Paul on lead

Look out Josh! Those pieces of cauliflower are coming down!

Josh takes to the wall.

Pulling those ice screws out is almost as tiring as putting them in.

Only a few more screws to go. Good job Josh.

This ice was so weird!

I couldn't hit through without shattering it, so I had to just hook the tools around this big pieces.

Some parts were even overhanging.

I pulled through the vertical section and reached my prize on top!

CCC Falls - WI 3-4, 400ft

My first lead climb on ice with my favorite belayer supporting me from bellow.

Feeling a little better with my first screw in.

Ready to place another screw. This is fun!

I felt like a champion after finishing my first lead!

Chillin' in an ice cave with my sweetheart.

Lookin good Josh.

Paul leading the way out.

These Francis' change every route to mixed!

Kt rockin to the top.

Kt climbs out and leaves poor Josh all alone in the pit,
but lowers down Paul's sweet tools and Josh follows with his best climb of the day.

Great area. Awesome views. Perfect day.
